A WOMAN faces a fine after being caught having a bonfire without permission by Mijas police.
Officers were alerted last Sunday afternoon (February 1) that there was a bonfire in the Osunillas area.
Mijas residents are reminded that permission is required from the fire brigade before lighting bonfires between November 1 and April 30, unless the land is within 400 metres of wooded areas, in which case permission must be sought from the Junta de Andalucia regional government.
Once permission has been obtained, bonfires can only be lit on Fridays or Saturdays and must be put out by 6pm, and not on windy days.
Application forms are available on Mijas Council’s website.
