A MAN had to be rescued on Tuesday (January 3) off the coasts of Motril after he was involved in a kitesurfing accident.
The man reportedly lost hold of his kite when he was 300 metres off the coast and was pulled into the water by the strong waves.
One of his friends tried to rescue him, but was also dragged in by the waves. However, he was able to get back to the shore by his own means.
Salvamento Maritimo (Spanish sea search and rescue organisation) was alerted and rescued the kitesurfer after he had drifted one kilometre, arriving at Motril’s dike.
