Nerja hotels: requesting live outdoor music

NERJA’S Municipal Government Group has put forward a motion requesting that local hotels are allowed to host outdoor live music events.

The motion is to be discussed in the next plenary session and is set to ask the Junta de Andalucia regional government to modify the laws that rule outdoor activities for hotels around Andalucian tourist destinations.

The current regulations only allow for live music indoors at hotels and not on their private terrace, at any time of the day.

Hotel representatives say clients do not want to stay inside during the summer and they have proposed establishing seasonal permission for music between 8pm and midnight.

“Considering the great importance that the hotel industry represents for the town – producing the most jobs – the regulation of these outdoor activities is proving necessary, always trying to combine tourist leisure with the area’s residents’ rest needs,” said Commerce councillor, Nieves Atencia.

Ms Atencia said that a similar proposal was made four years ago, but the council did not receive an answer from the Junta de Andalucia.
