AXARQUIA garden centre El Algarrobo, located in La Viñuela, has launched the first permanent organic market in the region.

The market will be open to the public every Saturday, between 10am and 1pm, inside the garden centre’s facilities.

It will include organic and local products such as bread, oil, jams, vegetables, fruits, cakes chocolate and even tapas.

In addition, it will offer natural cosmetics, handicrafts, live music and workshops for all ages.

“The idea of organising a permanent market in the area was born due to the great acceptance that other markets held in our centre have experienced, for instance, the Provincial Gathering of Seed Exchange, Biodiversity and Sustainable Agriculture,” said one of the garden centre’s representatives, and creator of the market, Maria Lavao.

Children will have the chance to enjoy activities such as vegetable garden workshops, and the most popular among youths, the creation of ‘seed bombs’ – small sacks filled with clay, soil and seeds which explode when thrown on the ground.

“The idea is for families to spend an enjoyable morning in which, apart from buying and tasting products, they are able to attend workshops, talks and conferences, as well as enjoy live music in a natural landscape,” said Ms Lavao.

El Algarrobo Garden Centre is located in front of the crossroads of Canillas de Aceituno, at the A-356 road.
