Mojacar celebrates three days of carnival costumes

FROM February 13 to 15, the residents of Mojacar and its many visitors will be donning their favourite costumes and hitting the streets for carnival.

Festivities begin on Friday 13 with the children’s school parade at 10am. At 10.30pm everyone heads to the Centro de Usos Multiples where they will be able to party while being entertained by the orchestra Prometido.

On Saturday 14 the party continues at the Centro de Usos Multiples from 10.30pm where groups come together to have their outfits judged while Prometido take to the stage again.

On Sunday February 15 at 5pm the big carnival parade will be held on the promenade from the roundabout close to Rio Abajo and culminating at the retail park.

Closing the festivities, on Wednesday February 18 at 5.30pm, it is time for mass and the placing of ashes in Mojacar church. At 8pm the traditional burial of the sardine commences with its famous parade, departing from the fuente and ending in the town centre with the burning of the sardine to mark a close to the festivities.
