Used shoes from the former queen to promote museum

INCA’S Mayor, Rafael Torres, has asked former Queen of Spain Sofia to donate a pair of shoes to promote the town’s shoe museum.

Mr Torres wrote a letter to the Head of the Royal Household to ask for the shoes, which would be the first item of a collection of shoes from popular figures that are somehow linked to the Balearic Islands.

In the letter, Torres wrote: “these shoes could be contemplated inside a display cabinet and could encourage other celebrities to join the project.”

If former queen accepts the proposal, the Mayor has requested they are accompanied by a signed photograph to be displayed at the shoe museum, and information on the pair of shoes’ background story.

The Shoe Museum was inaugurated four years ago and the initiative was created after former Queen Sofia was seeing wearing abarcas, the traditional footwear of the islands. In addition, she was seen visiting several businesses in Mallorca, which may help boost the commerce, according to Mr Torres.

“We know of the love that Her Majesty Queen Sofia holds for the Islands and especially, for Mallorca. Rest assured that the feeling is mutual,” Mr Torres’ letter read.
