AMERICAN travel agents are visiting the Costa del Sol this week on the invitation of the tourist board, to get to know some of the more opulent venues available.
Fourteen agents will be visiting luxury hotels on the coast, including the Marbella Club and Puente Romano, and will be taken on guided tours of Ronda, Marbella and Puerto Banus to inspect the cultural and commercial attractions of the area.
The visit comes as American luxury tourism once again begins to set its sights on the Costa del Sol as one of the best places in Spain for visitors looking to get in some culture, and shop til they drop.
Malaga Airport registered almost 10,000 American tourists arriving on direct flights from the US in 2014.
