OFFICERS from the Guardia Civil arrested a man as he allegedly tried to rob a bank outside of opening hours in La Mojonera.

Twenty-four-year-old AKJ, a resident of Roquetas de Mar, apparently tripped the alarm while breaking into the bank, triggering an alert at the police station. Police were on the scene very quickly and found that entry to the bank had been forced.

A swift and silent sweep of the building revealed AKJ crouched behind a desk, trying to force open a drawer. The officers padded him down and found tongs, pliers, a chisel and a set of Allen keys.

The agents identified the man and arrested him on suspicion of theft. AKJ, along with the case details, have been passed to the magistrate’s court in Almeria City for processing.
