CARNIVAL celebrations began in spite of the cold in Malaga and Benalmadena, with amazingly creative costumes on show.
An estimated 700 people took part in a parade in Malaga City, defying the chilly weather by daring to dance and make merry in a festival of music, colour and confetti.
Meanwhile Benalmadena residents both young and old took to the streets to show off their creations.
Mayor Paloma Garcia Galvez awarded diplomas for the best costumes, won by La Flor in first place, El Flexo in second and El Avioncito in third place for individual children. Prizes for groups of children went to Los Naiped in first place, Los Clips in second and La Ciguena in third.
Garcia Galvez invited people to take part in Benalmadena’s carnival celebrations, which run until February 15.
