THE Pego-Oliva marsh is the Valencian region’s National Park of the Month for February.

This coming Saturday, February 14, sees a census of the many birds and waterfowl that inhabit the marsh. Starting point is the N-322 and C-678 crossroads and the outing lasts approximately four hours.

A treasure hunt for all the family is planned for the following day at Muntanyeta Verda, setting out from the Pego tourist office at 10.30am.

Visitors can learn more about the marsh’s birds and can see them being ringed on Saturday, February 21, setting out once again from the Pego tourist office at 9am.

Next day, Sunday February 22, hour-long conducted tours leave Muntanyeta Verda at 10am, 11.30am and 1pm with the opportunity for a donkey ride for children (maximum weight 40 kilos).

Finally, on Saturday February 28, there is a 25-kilometre bicycle ride leaving the Pego sports ground at 9am. It will follow a circular route, practically all on the flat, along the Bullent and Racons rivers, rice fields, Muntanyeta Verda and reed beds. Bicycles will be available for hire.

Places for all excursions are limited and should be reserved beforehand on 679 195 227 or 679 196 461, or by emailing parque_pegooliva@gva.es
