THREE public buildings in Estepona have been declared cardiovascular safety zones by the Junta de Andalucia regional government after installing defibrillators.
Although regulations only state that sports centres must have defibrillators installed, the council decided to place one in the El Carmen sports centre and also in the busy Padre Manuel cultural centre and Edificio Puertosol buildings.
Staff members have been instructed on the use of the apparatus, which can help save lives while waiting for an ambulance to arrive in the event of a heart attack.
