NATIONAL POLICE officers have dismantled two marijuana greenhouses at properties in Velez-Malaga.

In a search, police found 175 marijuana plants in different stages of flowering, as well as 100 grams of marijuana, five grams of hashish and 10 grams of MDMA ready for consumption. In addition, €850 in cash was confiscated as well as mobile phones and devices used to create the optimal environment for the plantation.

Four people have been taken into custody as a result, one of them a minor, as he is the one alleged responsible for dealing the drug. Two of the detainees have also been charged with another crime for manipulating the electricity supply system to hide the high energy consumption necessary to maintain the plants.

The investigation began when the police were alerted to an unusually large attendance of young people at two properties in the area of La Villa, which turned out to be drug-selling points.

Two of the detainees have been remanded to prison pending trial and the other two remain in custody.
