King for the Day thanks to English lessons

ENGLISH lessons certainly proved worth it for one Torremolinos family this year.

At the English language school his daughter attends, out-of-work father Spencer Gonzalez Rivero put his name down for a ‘King for the Day’ draw, organised by local business and shop owners’ association ACET.

Little did he know at the time the simple gesture would result in him winning €12,000 worth of goods from local businesses.

After being informed of their luck, Gonzalez and his wife Gaby were met by ACET president, Carlos Rodriguez, and Torremolinos mayor, Pedro Fernandez Montes, first thing in the morning before their shopping spree began.

Wearing a cape and crown, the lucky father travelled across town acquiring clothes and shoes for his children, a bed, furniture and other household items.

The most special moment of the day was when the couple visited a jewellers shop to replace their wedding rings, which had been lost months beforehand.
