Storms force search for missing man in Gibraltar waters to be called off

THE search for a missing Spaniard in the waters off Europa Point in Gibraltar has been called off because of stormy weather conditions.

The man is believed to have fallen into the sea from a vessel around three miles off the coast this afternoon (February 17).

A two-hour search was conducted by the Royal Gibraltar Police (RGP), the Guardia Civil, the local port department and Salvamento Maritimo, but no trace of the man was discovered. The vessel in which the man was travelling called the RGP to report the incident before fleeing the scene.
