POLICE in Fuengirola are hunting for a suspect of manslaughter in relation to the death of a bag-snatcher.
The 42-year-old man from Marbella attacked a middle-aged Spanish woman on her way to work on Avenida Ramon y Cajal early one morning, wrestling her handbag from her before running away.
CCTV recordings have revealed that two young women and a man crossed his path as he fled, and the man took chase and returned a while later with the stolen handbag.
Police found the thief severely injured on the pavement and called an ambulance to take him to hospital.
The man arrived in a coma with severe head and internal injuries and died shortly afterwards. The post mortem report declared injuries received from a beating had been the cause of death.
After combing the area for witnesses and checking CCTV recordings from local businesses, the police are searching for the man who retrieved the stolen bag in connection with the death.
