TWO people in Fuengirola have been arrested for suspected animal abuse.
Following witness reports that two pet dogs were being mistreated by their owners, officers from the Guardia Civil’s Seprona animal and nature protection team investigated and found the dogs in a sorry state.
A vet declared that the pets were suffering from severe malnutrition, multiple injuries and mammary tumours.
Two dog-breeding establishments were also inspected by Seprona officers.
Spanish nature and pet protection laws allow jail sentences of three months to one year for those found unfairly mistreating pets or tame animals.
