SAN JUAN councillors from all parties have voted to take steps to complete the stalled Nou Nazaret infrastructure.
Work on the development that envisaged 800 homes and access roads linking Nou Nazaret with San Juan town, the beaches and Alicante City began in 2006. Although the project is 90 per cent finished, it was halted three years ago and the town hall now intends to find another developer.
First, however, the town hall needs a favourable report from the regional government’s Legal Advisory Council before it can dismiss the company originally contracted to carry out the work.
The town hall is confident that this will be forthcoming: “We calculate that we should be able to re-allocate the tender within two months,” said San Juan’s Town Planning councillor, Santiago Roman.
