Snowboarding tragedy in Sierra Nevada

A YOUNG man from Malaga has lost his life in a snowboarding accident in Sierra Nevada, the emergency services coordination centre has confirmed.

A group of six friends alerted the authorities at 7pm yesterday (February 22) that they had not seen their 24-year-old friend, who was last seen in the Rio area of the ski resort, for more than two hours.

A search and rescue team found the young man’s body five metres off-piste at 11.30pm and declared that he appeared to have died instantly after a fall.
