SUSANA DIAZ, president of the Junta de Andalucia regional government, visited Almeria Province and announced a series of measures for the area.

Among the measures was the opening to tender for the renovation of 32 homes in El Puche. The work should enable families to return to their homes within eight months, towards the end of 2015. The project has a budget of €1.2 million and will form part of a more ambitious project that will eventually benefit 320 families.

Diaz also visited the elderly day centre in Las Salinas, which is managed by FAAM (Federation of Persons with Disabilities). The centre can accommodate up to 50 users and currently serves 38 elderly people. The centre won an award in 2013 for best practices.

Diaz also broached the problems at Fines’ Escuela de Marmol. She said the issues of integration into the ESI (Infrastructure and Education Services) would be solved immediately although she did not specify when 14 workers would receive wages owed to them.

Diaz added: “The present and future are guaranteed with the new system and now we need to fix the past and pay whatever we have to pay to those with months of backlog.”
