AN electronic prescription service is now operational across the whole of the Murcia Region.
Corvera’s health centre became the last of 80 in Murcia to incorporate the system, which is aimed at saving time and eliminating the need for patients with chronic conditions to make continual visits to doctors for repeat prescriptions.
The system began to be phased in during September last year and by February 15 this year, more than one million e-prescriptions were issued out of around nine million prescriptions.
The College of Physicians of Murcia Region have raised their concerns about the system, saying the implementation process may have been carried out too quickly and the computer system on which the new service relies on is prone to crashing. However, the dispensing chemists said these issues were just teething problems.
