HUERCAL OVERA’S elderly have enjoyed a day of being spoiled, courtesy of Almeria council, Clece Social Services and Huercal Overa council.
More than 350 people came together for a conference that aimed to promote coexistence and participation and improve the living conditions of the elderly.
Provincial deputy for Equality, Social Welfare and Family, Almudena Valentin, said: “This is an event that is developing in various municipalities in Almeria and is proving to be a success. The aim is for our elderly to forget a little of their day and their problems by getting together with friends and acquaintances.”
Accompanied by town representatives, the mayor of Huercal Overa, Domingo Fernandez, added: “Our wish is that our elderly have the best possible future because they deserve it all. They are role models for work, effort and everything they have given us. If our society and available services are what they are today, it is thanks to our elderly. We owe it all to them.”
Attendees participated in a range of activities revolving around three disciplines: physical and healthy activity, memory and leisure and free time. They also enjoyed a lunch with music from the orchestra Nueva Zelanda.
