THE Day of Andalucia public holiday was a success in terms of hotel occupancy and beach attendance around Almuñecar.
Hotel occupancy reached 90 per cent during the weekend between February 28 and March 1, according to the town council.
The warm weather (around 20 degrees) and absence of wind encouraged residents and visitors to go to beaches including San Cristobal, Puerta del mar, Velilla and La Herradura.
Restaurants with terraces and beach bars had a full house with queues of customers who were waiting for their chance to enjoy a table with a view.
More than a thousand peopletook part in the Andalucian celebrations at the Majuelo Park, where concerts, games, and music activities were held.
