IMPROVEMENT works on the Marbella Arch have been completed.
Work was carried out after the city council requested a study which revealed several structural and stability problems due to humidity and lack of maintenance.
A twin-arch was dismantled in 2010 in the area of San Pedro Alcantara and the council considered the possibility of eliminating the one in Marbella as parts of the cladding had become detached by the end of 2013.
This situation forced the council to perform improvement works including the installation of a new wire mesh and the removal of deteriorated cladding .
The project was carried out at a cost of €100,000 and was completed in a period of two months.
