THE Technology Innovation Park of the Balearic Islands (ParcBit) will award the world’s best entrepreneurs in the fields of technology and tourism this month.

The awards, called ‘StartupBit 2015,’ will give €30,000 to the winner and €24,000 to the runner-up. Contestants can submit their candidacies until March 8 at www.startupbit.org.

The prize was conceived to allow winners to create their own businesses in the facilities of ParcBit, with the support of the regional government.

There will be a total of six winners, who will be able to share facilities with large national companies such as Logitravel and international businesses such as Trivago or Microsoft, according to head of the ParcBit, Miquel Bernat.

Candidates’ are required to have a project idea, or have launched a small or medium-sized business within the past two years.

All candidacies will be analysed by a jury of experts and winners will be unveiled on March 25 and 26, with a final award gala that will take place at ParcBit’s events hall, presided over by the president of the regional government, Jose Ramon Bauza.
