PALMA benefited to the tune of €1.7 million from the shooting of 31 advertising videos in the city during 2014.
On top of the cash boost 1,014 jobs, 890 to local residents, were created. “Production companies are to thank for these positive figures, which go to show the great importance and profitability that comes with supporting the audiovisual industry,” said councillor for Commerce, Employment, Youth and Participation, Esperanza Crespi.
Municipal company, Palma Film Office, gave 137 authorisations last year, 53 for photography projects, 42 for TV programmes, music videos and features, 31 for advertising spots, 10 for film shootings and one for a TV series.
“The figures show that the industry escapes seasonality, as they have been distributed throughout the whole year,” said Ms Crespi, who is also Head of Palma Film Office.
