POLICE in Premia de Mar, Barcelona, have caught an international Viagra trafficking group which sold more than 150,000 tablets a month.
Mossos d’Esquadra police force sources declared that a 53-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman from Pakistan and India respectively had been arrested for illegal drug trafficking, smuggling and belonging to a criminal group.
Investigations began in February when a local post office manager reported that a broken package from India had arrived with a large amount of Viagra tablets inside.
The packet was due to be delivered to a mobile phone accessory shop in Premia de Mar.
Police intercepted deliveries of more than 400,000 tablets and arrested the pair, who allegedly sold the tablets on the internet.
Distribution points had been sent up in a number of European cities with recruits in charge of receiving deliveries of the illegal medicine from China and India and sending them on to clients.
