THE Spanish Army’s horse breeding service will be visiting the Costa del Sol racecourse from March 23 to June 5.
An artificial insemination service, which will mean Mijas horse breeders won’t have to travel with their mares to get them pregnant, will be provided by the army at the request of the local council.
The army will be bringing four thoroughbred Spanish stallions, and other types and breeds, from the Jerez de la Frontera military horse-breeding centre.
“A donkey will also be coming, as they are very important in Mijas,” Agriculture and Breeding councilor, Jose Antonio Sanchez Peña, explained.
Previous visits by the army service were great successes, the councillor added.
