MIJAS’S traditional seniors’ trip this year will be to Madrid, councillor Miguel Gonzalez-Berral has announced.

“In previous years the visits have been to other Andalucian cities including Sevilla and Granada but this year, the town hall has organised a trip to Madrid to see the most important parts of the Spanish capital city,” Gonzalez-Berral explained.

Senior citizens can sign up for the trip on March 16, 17 and 18 in the village at the Social Services offices in the Hogar del Jubilado.

Residents in La Cala can sign up on March 19 and 20 at the council offices, and those from Las Lagunas can sign up at the Seniors office at the Hogar del Jubilado on March 23-27.

All three will be open from 9.30am to 1.30pm for registration.

This year’s trip, which will last three days and two nights, will include a number of activities and the journey will be made by AVE high-speed train.

A total of 1,100 places are available for the trip and although exact dates have not been given yet there will be three separate trips, all after Easter.
