FIREFIGHTERS who climbed in a Torremolinos window after neighbours reported not having seen a 69-year-old woman for a while found one of her dogs guarding her body.
After receiving a phone call saying the widow had not been seen for at least two months, police and firefighters entered her home in the El Pinillo area of Torremolinos and found the bodies of the lady, who appeared to have died of natural causes, and most of her pets.
Yet one of her dogs, although extremely weak, had managed to survive by eating remains from the kitchen and was found keeping a vigil by its owner’s side.
The faithful pet has been taken to the Torremolinos animal refuge where vets are working to improve its health.
