DRUGS OP: Police arrested five as drugs arrived at Santa Pola port.
A DRUG operation conducted jointly by members of the Guardia Civil and Customs Enforcement National Police has resulted in six people being arrested in Alicante and Santa Pola.
The operation seized 1,400kg of hashish that allegedly arrived at Santa Pola on a fishing trawler and was loaded in to a van. The vehicle was then stopped on the ring road of Alicante and the driver was arrested. Five others were also arrested.
The origin of the operation goes back to January of this year, when the existence of an organised crime group specialised in the introduction of hashish in Spain was detected.
