Fuengirola Town Hall, where flags will fly at half-mast today
Costa del Sol: FUENGIROLA is in mourning today (Saturday 14) for a municipal worker who was killed yesterday by a falling wall while carrying out his duties.
Flags on official buildings across town will be flying at half-mast as a sign of respect for the deceased worker.
The accident occurred at about 1pm yesterday when the worker and a colleague, who was also injured, were digging a ditch on Calle Miguel Angel and a wall collapsed on top of them.
Although emergency service workers rushed to the scene the worker, who the council declared was a much-loved local citizen and worker, died almost instantly.
Meanwhile the injured colleague was taken to hospital for treatment.
The area has been cordoned off for citizen safety until repairs can be carried out.
