A GRANT of €371,000 has been received by Rincon de la Victoria to implement the project ‘Smart Costa del Sol.’
The aid was provided by the Industry, Energy and Tourism Ministry, as was explained by the town’s councillor for New Technologies, Carmen Millan (PP).
The project ‘Smart Costa del Sol’ seeks to increase the value of the Costa del Sol brand, offer better services to visitors and citizens through information services and achieve better efficiency from a more sustainable perspective.
Thanks to this project, Rincon de la Victoria will now count on digital tools which will allow locals and visitors to approach the global tourism offers in an easier way, as well as offering a unique and homogeneous appearance to all services, helping in the decision-making process. This tool will also allow for a higher efficiency on service management.
With the implementation of the project, the town will benefit from a platform called ‘Smart City,’ a multi-language centre and different communication and promotion actions.
Rincon de la Victoria will count on an application especially designed for mobile devices with information about the town, 10 tablets that will be placed in taxis to also offer information and 10 free-wifi points.
In addition, 30 businesses will have the chance to participate in a project with the technology iBeacon, which allows purchasing items through mobile phones.
Noteworthy is the digitalisation of beaches, which will allow obtaining information about the water’s quality and how many people can be found on a beach at a certain time.
The project has already started its analysis and study phase which will take place during 2015 and it is expected to be completely implemented by 2016.
