ENCOURAGING recycling amongst residents has become one of the main priorities for Valldemossa Council with the creation of a complete campaign to do so.
With this goal in mind, the local government has approved a fiscal regulation which offers €50 discounts on waste taxes to households and businesses that recycle and voluntarily show that they separate waste appropriately.
More than 350 homes and 50 businesses have already joined the initiative, according to municipal sources.
In addition, eight new recycling points for selective collection (24 new containers), have been placed in different streets around the town, where none existed before.
The council is also working on a project to collect all waste door to door, including organic waste.
