MORE than 500 people, mostly expatriates, took part in St Patrick’s Day celebrations in Arroyo de la Miel.

The Irish Association in collaboration with Benalmadena council organised a day of celebrations to honour Ireland’s largest national party, which began with a mass said for the saint at the Inmaculada Concepcion church in Arroyo de la Miel.

The day continued with a street parade through the town centre to Parque de la Paloma, where the party went on with live music and typical Irish products on offer.

Mayor Paloma Garcia Galvez, Foreign Residents’ councillor Adolfo Fernandez and other members of the local council joined Irish Association president Terry McKinley to celebrate the day.

“It’s an honour for me to once again accompany our Irish residents for this important day of cultural and religious celebration, honouring their St Patrick. The event has become one of the most popular amongst out expatriates,” the mayor said.
