THE mother of a 13-year-old boy with Down’s Syndrome has launched a crusade to get her son on a school bus.
Amparo Merida, from Las Lagunas in Mijas, was advised to send her son to the Ramon y Cajal secondary school in Fuengirola rather than one closer to home, as the centre was better equipped for his education.
Yet the mother, who is due to start work on April 1, has complained that her many petitions for the school bus route to be slightly adapted and her son collected each morning have been ignored by the education authorities, meaning she has to walk him the four kilometres to school each morning.
Merida, who has started a Facebook campaign to raise support for her cause, explained that once she starts work, her son Francisco will have to face the walk alone unless the authorities can be persuaded to let him on the bus.
