THE Junta de Andalucia regional government and Antequera Council are working to remove protected status and legalise 300 homes in an area known as El Ponton.
The council is gathering information to present to the Junta to prove that the area was declared as protected in 1987, approximately three years after the plots of land in question were authorised for building.
El Ponton neighbours’ association leader Jaime Martin said he hoped this would finally mean their homes, many of which were built before the area was declared protected, would finally be recognised as legal.
