Massive drinking party causes controversy in Granada

ON Friday, March 20 Granada will host the largest outdoor drinking party in the region to celebrate the Spring Festival or ‘Fiesta de Primavera.’

The festival now has its own area in the city, known as the Botellódromo, due to the number of young people expected to attend. Last year more than 20,000 young people came to the festival.

The botellón has caused considerable controversy, with many local businesses being opposed to the festival due to the rubbish left, roads infrastructure being closed and potential for damage to local businesses.

This is one of several botellón festivals of various types that take place in Granada every year.
