JESUS Hernandez Sahagun, a Burgos priest, has been arrested for carrying out ‘exorcisms’ on a girl who was reported to have an eating disorder.
Apparently the priest, accused of tying up the girl and injuring her, was acting on the request of her highly religious parents, who believed she was possessed by the devil. In defending his actions, the priest claimed the “devil was resistant” in this case.
The exorcisms date from 2012 and the girl later attempted to commit suicide. Several priests in Spain have official church authority to perform exorcisms.
