REQUESTS to attend the launch of Malaga’s new Pompidou Centre on Saturday, March 28, exceeded expectations as people from all over the world contacted the council pleading for invites.
Yet many of the more than 4,000 who requested tickets will be disappointed as there is only space for around 1,000 people, the council confirmed.
Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy and French Minister of Culture Fleur Pellerin will preside over the official launch of the first centre the prestigious Paris museum has opened outside France.
The opening event will include a tour of the permanent display, with 90 pieces from the 20th and 21st century, including work by Pablo Picasso, Frida Khalo, Rene Magritte and Alberto Giacometti.
