MANY young people from across European come to the Costa del Sol to study and, in a programme working with a Scandinavian international school, they are being encouraged to stay with Spanish families in Fuengirola.
Students often decide to study on the Costa del Sol to learn Spanish, but when attending international schools spend much of their time speaking their native language, or can easily get by speaking English in tourist locations.
Living with local families gives students a much greater opportunity to integrate into Spanish society and learn the language.
Fuengirola is one of only three locations, together with Barcelona and Mallorca, that have programs like this offering stays with local families.
