VEHICLE thefts in Estepona went up by 34 per cent in 2014.
A new report from the Spanish Home Office revealed that 121 motor vehicles were reported stolen during the year, compared to 90 in 2013.
Town councillor Julian Lopez explained that crimes related to drug-trafficking also went up by 25 per cent, from 40 to 50 cases.
Lopez said that although the town has excellent police officers they lack the means to beat more crime as facilities and equipment are becoming obsolete.
