THE first Fish and Seafood Day ‘Sabor a Mares’ (Sea Flavour) of Velez-Malaga will take place on April 4.
The deputy mayor of the district Caleta de Velez, together with the councillor for Agriculture and Fishing, Mari Carmen Diaz, and the mayor of Algarrobo, presented the event, which will open at the port of Caleta at around 12pm.
The day will begin with an official event that will gather council representatives and figures from the business world. After that, an exhibition of photographs depicting the town’s fishing history from the past to the present will be inaugurated.
Tastings will begin at around 1pm, and participants will be able to enjoy fried fish and other typical food products while listening to live music performances from local bands.
“The main goal of this event is to promote consumption of local fish and protect local fishermen,” Ms Diaz explained.
