Teeing off at Costa Blanca’s El Paraiso

Gold category winners.

TWENTY-TWO members and guests teed off at Club de Golf El Paraiso, set in the vale between Ciudad Quesada and Rojales.

Showers were forecast but fortunately they didn’t materialise and without the wind of recent days the weather was perfect for golf.

Winner of the Silver division, Norwegian member Ole Rong, made a double bogey on hole 17 but still managed the best score of the day with his 36 points. Alex Goslan returned 34 points to take second place and Lars Zelman finished third with a credible 30 pts.

The Gold category members didn’t score quite so well and it needed only 31 points for Martin Simmons to take third place with Ove Cederberg taking second place on lower handicap also on 31 pts. But it was Martin’s wife Hillary who came up with the goods taking first place with a very good 33 points playing off 19 handicap.

The NTPs were hole five for any player: no one, hole 11 Gold category members only: Chris Gray, hole 15 any player: Martin Simmons, less than six inches for a hole in one, hole 17: Swedish member Lenart Holmberg. All received a very nice bottle on Marques de Caceres.
