A MAN has been remanded in custody after trying to rob the same bank twice in three days.
Although on the first attempt, the man (who entered a bank in Alhaurin de la Torre wearing a balaclava and brandishing a 40cm knife) was unable to get his hands on any loot as there was no cash to hand and the safe had a delayed opening system, he returned three days later at a different time of day carrying a smaller knife and this time managed to escape with €2,300 in cash.
After viewing security camera recordings, taking statements from witnesses and checking the streets the man was reported to have used to flee the scene, police investigators decided that he knew the area well and drew up a list of known delinquents from the area.
The suspect was identified from the list and arrested a few days later on the outskirts of the town, and a subsequent search of his home found the clothes worn and the knives used during the robbery.
