Spanish property market sees a 10 per cent increase in January

JANUARY was the best month in years for the Spanish property market, growing an impressive 10 per cent, according to the National Institute of Statistics (INE).

The area of the market which is showing the biggest signs of growth is the resale segment, which was up a staggering 51 per cent compared to the same time last year.

RE/MAX Top are specialists in the Costa del Sol property market, with offices in Malaga and Marbella and have been seeing a huge increase in buyer interest.

They recently attended property exhibitions in Sweden and the UK where there were double the visitors present, clearly indicating a renewed interest in overseas property.

“We saw a lot of interest in the areas East of Malaga from UK buyers in the over 50s’ segment who were looking for relaxed, tranquil areas where they could enjoy their retirement,” commented Jennifer Sarah from RE/MAX Top.

“This is great news for property owners in the Axarquia region and we’d like to encourage owners interested in selling to contact us so we can meet demand.

One reason for the increase in over 50s buyers is that clients are now able to release funds from their pensions to invest in property.

There have also been tax cuts announced for 2015, including a 2 per cent reduction in Capital Gains Tax for non-residents.

As the UK Pound is so strong against the Euro, British buyers are getting a lot more for their money.

However, RE/MAX Top warns sellers that whilst there are now more buyers around, they are extremely cost-sensitive, so prices are not rising and the demand is for the lower end properties in the more affordable areas such as East of Malaga.

RE/MAX Top offer vendors excellent customer service, support and exposure.

They employ a professional photographer, market throughout Europe via property exhibitions, ensure maximum online exposure with national and international property portals, give the right valuation to sell and support sellers every step of the way.
