Crash site.

TWO media sources claim to have a video from a mobile phone memory card retrieved from the Germanwings flight crash site. The video supposedly shows the last minutes before the crash, with sounds of panic in the cabin and the metallic sounds of the plane’s captain apparently trying the break down the door and enter the cockpit.

The existence of the video has been questioned. French paper Paris Match and German paper Bild said they had the film, while the French police initially denied that they knew about it. The papers have since stated again that it was genuine.

A Marseille prosecutor confirmed that several mobile phones had been discovered at the crash site but he stated that none had yet been examined. Mr Brice Robin said that the phones were in bad condition or destroyed due to the force of the crash on the mountainside.

Mr Robin added that, “In the event that somebody has in his possession such a video, he should hand it in to investigators.”
