A 21 year old British woman is in a ‘grave’ condition after she fell from a hotel balcony during a student festival in Spain.
Officers in Salou, south of Barcelona, said today (April 4) they were treating the 50ft fall as a case of attempted suicide. The unnamed woman was attending the annual invasion of the resort by nearly 5,000 university students in a party dubbed Saloufest.
She suffered severe head injuries when she plunged from the fourth-floor balcony in the early hours.
A spokeswoman for the Catalan regional police force at nearby Tarragona said: “We are treating this as a case of attempted suicide, It was not the result of alcohol-related horseplay.”
The officer added that the young woman was in a ‘grave’ condition in hospital.
Asked if she could give more details, the officer said: “We do not give out information related to suicide cases.”
The injured woman was amongst 4,600 British and Irish university students attending the 15th annual Saloufest this week.
