Montgo fire damage restoration complete

A SIX month programme of restoration carried out in the Montgo Natural Park funded by the town of Javea is now complete.
The municipality spent €200,000 on clearing and re-planting and also took the opportunity to restore two ‘faroleres’ historic lime kilns used since Roman times in the La Plana area – there were more than 50 of these kilns in the area, used to supply lime for building work.
Fine weather in recent months made it possible to push ahead with the process of restoration and the shrub layer in the area is now entering a period of recovery.  However, this has been slowed slightly in recent weeks by the lack of rain and persistently high winds.
