A RUSSIAN nuclear submarine caught fire in the Russian Arctic naval shipyard of Severodvinsk yesterday.
The nuclear submarine was in the shipyard for repairs and the fire apparently started when some welding work was being conducted on the hull.
The submarine, launched in 1992, is a nuclear-powered vessel, but the according to reports the nuclear reactor was removed from the submarine before the repairs began and there was no threat to the public in the surrounding area.
Authorities said all weapons on the Oscar 11 Class submarine had also been removed and no injuries were reported.
