Infanta Cristina signed papers without explanations, says defence

THE Infanta Cristina, charged in the corruption case Noos together with her husband Iñaki Urdangarin, will present her statement of defence before a Palma Court tomorrow.

“She merely signed the documents presented to her by her husband, without asking for explanations,” reads the paper, in reference to the business Aizoon, owned by Mr Urdangarin and believed to have been a shell company.

“Since the day of its constitution, the only administrator of Aizoon was Mr Urdangarin. She stood completely apart from management responsibilities,” the text continues.

Her two lawyers, Miquel Roca and Jesus Maria Silva, authors of the document, completely reject accusations that the Infanta collaborated when the alleged IRPF embezzlement occurred in 2007 and 2008 through the company.

“She had absolutely no say in the obligatory tax payments of Aizoon,” finished the document.
